MTERA Welcomes the Lower Sioux Indian Community!

We are excited to share that MTERA rang in the New Year with the Lower Sioux Indian Community joining our ever-growing team of now 31 Midwest Member Tribes across the EPA’s Region 5! The Lower Sioux Indian Community is located in south central Minnesota in Redwood County, approximately two miles south of Morton. Members of the Lower Sioux Indian Community are part of the Mdewakanton Band of Dakota. The Dakota, which translates closely to "friend" or "ally", refers to their traditional Minnesota River Valley homeland as Cansa'yapi (where they marked the trees red). Visit their website for more information.

Welcome aboard, Lower Sioux Indian Community!
